Police believe the driver was speeding and went through a stop sign before going off the road.

FALMOUTH, MA – A car drove off the road and crashed into the ocean in Falmouth Wednesday night, police said. Officers were called to the beach near the intersection of Maravista Avenue and Menauhant Road around 7 p.m. and found the car upright just beyond the water line.
A bystander, who WHDH identified as a retired Bridgewater fire chief, had already helped the driver out of the car. The 28-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators believe the car was speeding and did not stop at the stop sign while driving south on Maravista Avenue. It crossed over Menauhant Road, went into the sand and traveled about 50 yards before coming to a stop in the water, police said.
