Falmouth Edges Closer To Water Main Replacement

Officials say they're aiming to have a contractor by the end of winter after another massive break on Main Street.

FALMOUTH, MA – Local water officials say work is expected to begin this spring to replace water mains on Main Street following another major break. On Tuesday, a break near 704 Main St. split the road open, closing it to traffic for the rest of the day.

The area also saw a pipe break about a year ago.

Crews have since repaired the road and will continue to work through the end of the week, the Cape Cod Times reported. Water officials told the Times they hope to open bids for water main replacement Jan. 16 and select a contractor by the end of February.
