Falmouth Man Faces 3rd Drunken Driving Charge

The 64-year-old was drunk when he went off the road and knocked over the "Land of the Wampanoag" sign in Mashpee, police said.

FALMOUTH, MA – An East Falmouth man faces his third OUI charge after witnesses said he drove Rt. 130 and knocked over the "Land of the Wampanoag" sign in Mashpee, according to the Cape Cod Times. Mark Lamoreaux, 64, pleaded not guilty to drunken driving, negligent operation, leaving the scene of property damage and a marked lanes violation.

Police pulled Lamoreaux's Kia SUV over on Rt. 28 heading toward Falmouth, the Times reported. The vehicle was damaged on the passenger side, where he hit the sign, police said.

He was released on $2,000 bail and will next appear in court Dec. 14.
