Falmouth Police: K-9 Nabs Assault Suspect
Falmouth police said a K-9 unit helped catch an assault suspect.

FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth police said a suspect was arrested Saturday after assaulting and seriously injuring another individual on Sandwich Road. A Barnstable County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit helped capture the suspect, police said. Police said officers were called to the area for a report of an assault.
"Upon arrival, officers located the victim with serious injuries and learned that the suspect had fled on foot," police said in a statement. "A Barnstable County Sheriff's Office (K-9) track was initiated and the suspect was found behind a house in the area and placed into custody."

The victim of the assault was hospitalized for lacerations and possible broken bones, police said.
"A preliminary investigation revealed that the two had an argument, which led to a physical altercation including the victim being kicked in the head several times," police said.

The suspect's identity was not immediately released.
