Falmouth police said a girl involved in a dispute on Snapchat broke into another girl's home and assaulted her mother.

FALMOUTH, MA — A dispute between Falmouth teenagers on Snapchat over the weekend ended with one breaking into the other's home and attacking her mother, according to police. The suspect, a 15-year-old girl, was charged with assault and breaking and entering, police announced Tuesday. Her name was not released due to her age.

Falmouth police said the two 15-year-old girls "were involved in an argument on Snapchat and one of them took offense to a message." One of them then "went to the other teenager’s home, forced her way into the home, and assaulted the other (teen's) mother in the process," police said. The attack happened on Jamie Lane, according to police.

The suspect knew the victim's location before the dispute, according to Falmouth police Lieutenant Douglas DeCosta.

Snapchat recently added a new feature called Snap Map, which allows users to see the location of other users in real time. Multiple Massachusetts police agencies have expressed safety concerns. DeCosta said the mapping feature did not play a factor in Sunday's alleged attack, as the teens knew each other beforehand.
