Falmouth's Betsy's Diner Catches Fire, Investigation Underway

The interior of the Main Street diner suffered damage, but fire officials were able to quickly extinguish the early morning fire.

FALMOUTH, MA — A roof fire was extinguished early Tuesday morning at Betsy's Diner on Main Street, fire officials confirmed.

At roughly 5 a.m. on Tuesday, officials received a call that the roof of the Main Street diner was on fire.

Fire damaged the ductwork of the heating and cooling system, as well as the rubber roof membrane. The interior of the restaurant also sustained smoke and water damage, but, all in all, fire officials say it could have been much worse.

No injuries were reported.

The fire is still being investigated by officials, but the owners of the diner are working hard to reopen.

According to the Cape Cod Times, diner owner Lisa Keuchkarian said she'd like to reopen by the weekend, though that timeline will depend on inspections.
