FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth's Hatchville Fire Station is set to reach a big milestone in the coming weeks as the new structure could see a roof added.

Here's what's been happening at the station recently:

"The Apparatus Bays have had the steel framework installed and roof panels are almost completed. On the Administration/Living Area side, rough plumbing and electrical are underway. Installation of windows and interior door frames are being installed as well. The roof shingle application has started. In the coming weeks, we can expect the framing of the roof between the two sections to start, the water main installation from the main on Sandwich Road to the property, and the placement of two new utility poles, along with the other work to continue."
This continues the steady progress on the fire station, which was "slightly ahead of schedule and remains on budget," officials said in July.
The new station is over 10,000 sq. ft. and features a three-bay garage.

According to the Falmouth Enterprise, the station would include "a vestibule for patients in need of minor emergency care, six firefighter dorms, a kitchen and dining area, showers, lockers, a wellness room, a patio area and a decontamination area with lockers and showers."
Solar panels would also be installed, with the hopes of powering as much of the station with renewable energy as possible.
