A Coast Guard Jayhawk helicopter crew rescued an injured fisherman aboard the Destiny about 90 miles off Cape Cod May 18, 2017.

FALMOUTH, MA — An injured fisherman was rescued by a Coast Guard helicopter crew Thursday night. The fisherman fell and injured his ribs and hand aboard the fishing vessel Destiny, according to the Coast Guard. The boat's captain notified the Coast Guard, which launched a Jayhawk helicopter crew.

At about 8 p.m., the crew arrived at the Destiny's location about 90 miles east of Cape Cod. The crew used a basket to hoist the fisherman aboard. He was flown to Air Station Cape Cod then transported to Falmouth Hospital. His condition was not immediately available.

The Destiny is homeported in New Bedford.
