With Medical Bills Growing, Fundraiser For Falmouth Couple Injured In Hit-And-Run Underway
Dave and Sandy Fitch are both hospitalized with serious injuries after they were struck by a motorcyclist in Falmouth.
FALMOUTH, MA — As medical bills continue to pile up for the Falmouth couple hit by a motorcyclist during a recent hit-and-run, community members and friends have rallied to raise funds.
Dave and Sandy Fitch remain hospitalized after they were struck by a motorcycle while crossing the street in Falmouth on Aug. 14.
In an interview with NBC 10, Dave Fitch said his wife, Sandy, remains on life support while he's needed three surgeries on his leg.

"I've had three surgeries here, and it became clear to me that my leg had actually been crushed," he told NBC 10. "And they have been, for the past eight days, trying to save my leg from being amputated."
An online fundraiser has been started for the couple, who were out celebrating Dave's birthday at the time of the crash.

As of Friday at 11:30 a.m., the fundraiser has collected $9,386 from 122 donors. The goal for the organizer is to raise $100,000.
The motorcyclist was arraigned after turning himself in days after the crash.
David Eldredge Jr., 33, of Falmouth, is charged with leaving the scene of personal injury, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, operating that vehicle with a suspended license, speeding and other violations.
He is held on $5,000 bail after an arraignment hearing this week in Falmouth District Court.
Police were called to the area near Estia restaurant on Main Street just after 8:45 p.m. on Monday. Officials said the couple were hit by the motorcycle while they were crossing the street within the marked crosswalk.
Officials said Eldredge was able to get his motorcycle off the road before he fled into a wooded area behind Falmouth Town Hall.
