"This is the fourth person that has jumped or attempted to jump from the Sagamore Bridge in just over a month. Thankfully our officers and those from other agencies were able to intercede in 2 of those instances. Sadly, for the other two, officers only became aware after the terminal decision was made," said Acting Chief Brandon Esip.

He continued with a plea to others, urging them to seek help if they needed it:

"I want to take this opportunity to let those who may feel alone or desperate know that they are NOT alone. There are resources available to help you through those dark times in your life. There are many organizations, such as The Samaritans, who can be reached 24/7 at 9-8-8 that have people that are ready to listen. Additionally, many police departments, including your Bourne Police Department, work closely with clinicians who can help in getting you support in your time of crisis. Police are not only there to enforce laws, but we are here to keep all in the community safe and provide resources when needed.
While the tunnel may sometimes seem dark and lonely, our community is filled with friends who care and want to help!"
