Michael Floyd Gets Jail Time in 'Extreme DUI' Case

The late-season addition to the New England Patriots pleaded guilty to an extreme DUI.

SCOTSDALE, AZ — Michael Floyd, who was a late-season addition to the 2016 New England Patriots, will spend time in jail, pay a fine, and perform community service as part of a plea deal stemming from a drunken driving incident in December.

Floyd pleaded guilty to seven charges including extreme DUI and failure to obey a police officer, according to FOX Phoenix. He was sentenced to 24 days in Maricopa County Jail, 96 days of house arrest, a $5,000 fine, and 30 hours of community service. He also must attend alcohol abuse classes.

The plea deal meant that Floyd was able to avoid a charge of super extreme DUI, which carries a longer jail sentence.

In December, Floyd was arrested by the Scottsdale Police Department after police found him at an intersection asleep at the wheel of a running vehicle. It was his second, OUI arrest, with the first occurring at Notre Dame in 2011.

Bodycam footage showed officers approaching Floyd's car at the intersection and needing a forceful knock to wake up an unconscious Floyd. After Floyd wakes up, he was unable to follow police orders before he was removed from his vehicle by an officer.
