Framingham Cancels 2020 Flag Day Parade Due To Coronavirus

Framingham officials made the call Tuesday when the city's case count hit 1,107 with 36 deaths.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham's annual Flag Day celebration set for mid-June has been called off because of concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.

The cancellation came the same day Framingham reported that now 1,107 residents have contracted the virus, and 36 had died. The number of active cases in Framingham was 797 on Tuesday.

Natick on Monday canceled its July 4 celebration, which would've been the town's 65th. Somerville has also canceled all city-sponsored July 4 events. Weymouth and Plymouth have also canceled Independence Day events.

The Framingham Flag Day parade was scheduled for June 14. This year's parade would've been the city's third annual Flag Day celebration.

Officials hope to come back for the traditional Flag Day celebration in June 2021.
