Therapy dog at the Hingham Public Library!

Pike, the therapy dog, and speech pathologist Kelly DelSignore, will appear at the Hingham Public Library to read with children!

I brought Pike, my 11 year old “schnoodle” and certified therapy dog (and inquisitive, loving pup) to the Hingham Public Library on Thursday, July 19th to read stories with children.  The children loved her (how could you not?!) and we are looking forward to going again this week!

On Thursday, July 26th at 2:00 and children can sign up for 10 minute increments to read with Pike.  This program is designed to help children improve their oral literacy skills. There have been many studies completed documenting how reading with therapy dogs can improve a child's reading skills.  Dogs provide a non-judgmental, comforting environment as most children are afraid of making mistakes and do not like reading out loud.

The following week, I will be brining my guinea pigs to the library for a visit!  Stay tuned for more details!
