3 Named To Medford Cable Advisory Board

The board will drive branding and membership for the city's new public access station.

MEDFORD, MA – Medford Mayor Stephanie M. Burke has appointed three new members to the city's Cable Advisory Board. Gabrielle Follett Sumney, Jay Campbell and Yvette Wilks will assist the mayor in matters related to cable television services across Medford and guide the branding and membership drive for the new public access station.

“The newly appointed members will add tremendous value with their credible experience to this board," Burke said in a statement. "I am grateful that Medford residents’ Gabrielle, Yvette and Jay have agreed to serve our community in this capacity, and I look forward to their work in collaboration with our Station Manager, Ben Brown.”

Sumney is a media artist and educator who graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2011 with a B.A. in film studies. She earned her master's in media art from Emerson College in 2016 and currently works as both a videographer for Harvard University and an affiliated faculty member at Emerson College, where she teaches production and media history.

"I am looking forward to serving my community using my media experience," said Sumney. "While I am new to Medford and to community television, I am confident that I can learn from and support our very creative and dedicated citizens. I truly appreciate the opportunity to help this program grow and develop."

Campbell, the director of marketing for a litigation law firm, has social media, training and consulting experience with various organizations such as Wynn Boston Harbor and Burst Media.

"I am looking forward to working with the board, Ben Brown and Krissie Fraser to bring Medford’s public access to the next level and begin utilizing social media to enhance our current public access offering," said Campbell said.

Wilks is currently the president of ZAMP Dreams Productions, which produces content for television and radio shows. She is also the chair of SMC, formerly Somerville Community Access Television, and co-founder of the annual Evolution of Hip Hop Festival. Wilks has extensive experience as a broadcast director and producer.

"It doesn’t happen immediately, but when you are at the end you really feel a warmth of love and privilege to have been given such a gift," Wilks said. "This is how I feel about being involved with the Cable Advisory Board, it is a gift."
