Distrigas Honors Medford High School Student with First Place Science Award

Distrigas of Massachusetts recently honored Medford High School student Erica Budina and 33 other students their academic success and outstanding work in the field of science.

Distrigas of Massachusetts recently honored Medford High School student Erica Budina and 33 other students, from Everett, Lexington, Medford, and Saugus for their academic success and outstanding work in the field of science.  Students, along with their families, school administrators, and educators, were recognized at an Awards Dinner held in their honor at Bobby C’s Restaurant in Melrose.  Distrigas has been sponsoring the local scholarship program and science fair competition for more than 30 years.

Budina was awarded First Place in the Region IV Science Fair for excellent achievement on her project.

“Given the importance of science to our natural gas business, we believe it’s important to support students who show initiative, creativity, and a commitment to science,” said Carol Churchill, Manager of Communications for Distrigas.  “The students we’re honoring have shown innovation, academic achievement, and an interest in understanding the world around them.”

In addition, Distrigas awarded prizes and/or certificates of achievement to the following students for their outstanding student science fair projects:

 

The Region IV State Science Fair winners were: 

  • 1st Place – Erica Budina of Medford High School
  • 2nd Place – Benjamin Brown of Lexington High School
  • Honorable Mention  – Vesna Imsirovic of Everett High School

 

The Everett High School Science Fair winners were:

  • 1st Place Biology  – Sydney Thompson-Sands
  • 1st Place Chemistry – Kailey Gilbert, Cassandra Kysilovsky, and David Nguyen
  • 1st Place Engineering  -- Steven Ho
  • 1st Place Physics – Muhammad Sheikh and Diego Velasquez
