Bullet Casing Found Behind Medford High School

The casing was turned over to authorities Wednesday after it was found on the Field of Dreams.

MEDFORD, MA – A bullet casing was found Wednesday evening on the Field of Dreams behind Medford High School, officials said. A parent who found the casing between 6 and 6:30 p.m. gave it to Medford High School Security Officer William Mazaka, who turned it over to Headmaster Paul D'Alleva, according to a spokesperson for the Medford Public Schools.

Mazaka called the Medford Police Department, who responded to the scene. The casing was never inside the school, and authorities said no students or adults were in danger.

"There are no suspects at this time and no injured parties have been located. Medford police officers are conducting an active investigation," Police Chief Leo Sacco, Jr. said in a statement. "An increased police presence will be on site tomorrow to assist our School Resource Officer Richard Ziobro and the administrative staff at Medford High School. There does not appear to be an intended threat to any individual or to the school community."
