SPECIAL: Grounded Tango - The Power of the Standing Leg (with Macelo "El Chino" Gutierrez)

Event Details
In this workshop, Marcelo “El Chino” Gutiérrez explores the mechanics of grounding.
In tango, everything begins with the standing leg. Balance, stability, pivots, and connection all depend on how clearly we organize our weight and how we interact with the floor.
In this workshop, Marcelo “El Chino” Gutiérrez explores the mechanics of grounding - how the standing leg supports movement, how the free leg releases naturally, and how dancers generate movement from the floor rather than from the upper body.
Through simple but powerful exercises, Marcelo will help you refine balance, improve pivots, and discover a more stable and effortless axis. This workshop is less about steps and more about how movement is built from the ground up - a key element of Marcelo’s teaching method.
Why you need it:
Most tango problems start in the standing leg:
-unstable pivots
-heavy leading
-unclear weight changes
-difficulty maintaining axis
When the standing leg works correctly, tango becomes easier, smoother, and far more expressive. This class gives you the physical foundation for everything that follows.
