Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA Celebrates Pride Month with Return of Proud Bikes to Bluebikes System

WHAT: In celebration of Pride Month, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (Blue Cross), the title sponsor of Bluebikes, is again launching 100 rainbow-wrapped “Proud Bikes” into Greater Boston’s bike share system this June. As part of this month-long initiative to support LGBTQIA+ health care access across Greater Boston, Blue Cross will donate $1 to Fenway Health for every ride taken on a “Proud Bike” (either classic or ebike). Once that threshold is met, Lyft, the operator of Bluebikes, will match the donation with an additional $1 per “Proud Bike” ride, contributing up to an additional $10,000.

Blue Cross has been Bluebikes’ title sponsor since the 2018 inception of the publicly owned bike share program, which is owned by the 13 participating municipalities and operated by Lyft.

WHEN: June 1 - June 30, 2026

WHERE: “Proud Bikes” will be available across Bluebikes’ 600 stations in 13 municipalities, including Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Newton, Revere, Salem, Somerville, and Watertown.

HOW:Find and ride one of the 100 Proud Bikes across the Bluebikes system and a $1 donation will automatically be made on behalf of your ride. A full list of Bluebikes stations can be found at www.bluebikes.com/map.
