Former Medford Mustang to be Enshrined in UMass Boston Hall of Fame

Raymond Buckland earned three Division III championships while playing basketball at UMass Boston.

Raymond Buckland, a native of Medford, will be enshrined in the UMass Boston Athletics Hall of Fame as a member of the 2015 class, according to the school’s athletic department.

The basketball standout is one of six individuals to be selected for honor at the upcoming ceremony on October 20, 2015. The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. inside the school’s Campus Center Ballroom.

Buckland was previously elected to the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Medford Mustang Hall of Fame in 1991.

He was a three-time Division III champion at Boston State College, which later merged with UMass Boston. Additionally, Buckland led the league in both scoring and rebounding as a three-year starter.

Buckland was a member of the 1986 graduating class at the college.
