MA Reports 'Widespread' Flu Activity
It is one of six states to report "widespread" flu. Health officials say it's not too late to get your flu shot.

Massachusetts is one of six states reporting "widespread" flu activity, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The state reported the CDC's highest level of activity in the Week 50 report, which was released in mid-December.
Georgia, Alabama, California, Delaware and New York also reported widespread activity. So far seven pediatric deaths have been reported nationwide this season, according to the CDC. The most common flu type this season is the H1N1 subtype of the influenza A strain.
Health officials say now's the time to get a flu shot if you haven't done so already. According to the Massachusetts Public Health blog, flu rates are expected to climb further into flu season. The vaccine is available at health care provider offices, pharmacies, school and workplace vaccination clinics, and flu vaccine clinics sponsored by local boards of health. A list of flu vaccine availability based on zip code can be found here.
