Medford Resident Reports Losing Thousands Of Dollars To Phone Scam (patch.com) — Medford residents are being warned after a local person lost $7,500 to a phone scammer posing as a Middlesex Sheriff's Office official and demanding bitcoin for a fake warrant. The Middlesex Sheriff's Office and Medford Police stress they never demand payment or threaten arrest over the phone, urging anyone who gets such a call to hang up and contact the agency directly.
   

2. 2 Arrested In Connection With Medford Shooting (patch.com) — Medford police have arrested two 19-year-olds from Lynn in connection with a mid-August shooting on Salem Street in which no one was hurt but a building was struck. Detectives say community-provided surveillance footage was crucial in identifying the suspects, who now face multiple firearm and assault charges following their arraignment in Somerville District Court.

Man arrested after chasing woman, throwing glass bottle at Medford plaza (nbcboston.com) — Medford police arrested a man after he allegedly chased people at Fells Plaza and threw a glass bottle that injured a nearby child. Officers initially responded to reports of a possible gun and shooting, but quickly determined no firearm was involved before taking a suspect into custody on assault charges.

Gyimesi Selected as D3CA Region I Student-Athlete of the Year (gotuftsjumbos.com) — A Tufts University men's basketball standout based in Medford has been named the D3CA Region I Men's Student-Athlete of the Year, becoming the Jumbos' first regional honoree since 2022. The recent graduate, a two-time Academic All-American and Tufts' all-time leading rebounder, now advances to a national ballot while being recognized for his academic excellence, leadership, and community service.
   

5. The Who Is Back in Rehearsals – With a Surprising Former Bandmate (101theeagle.com) — Roger Daltrey is bringing his Great Night Out Tour to Medford's Chevalier Theatre on September 29, giving local fans a chance to see The Who's frontman live. The story also reveals that The Who have quietly reunited in rehearsals with longtime drummer Zak Starkey, even as Daltrey continues a busy solo run across the U.S. this fall.
