A 27-year-old Somerville man was stabbed early Saturday morning on Hinkley Street in Somerville, near Magoun Square, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
Authorities believe the man was stabbed on Hinkley Street at about 1:25 a.m. and then walked to Broadway, where he collapsed. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, authorities said.

“This is an active investigation,” Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a statement. “Evidence gathered so far indicates that the victim may have been with an acquaintance walking down the street shortly before the stabbing occurred.
“Anyone who may have seen something in the area of the Dunkin’ Donuts store on Broadway early this morning is asked to come forward in order to assist in apprehending the person or the people responsible for this crime.”
