McCarthy Named Coach of the Year, Lanzilli Nets League MVP
Medford girls hockey coach Dave McCarthy was named Coach of the Year for this season while Brittani Lanzilli was named MVP and Kristina Bove, Jennifer White, Samantha Lopilato, Denise Palmacci & Kassi Abbott were all named GBL All-Stars.
It's been an unbelieveable season for the Medford High girls hockey team. The Mustangs stormed through the Greater Boston League with a 14-4-2 record overall, went undefeated in league play and netted the ninth seed in the Div. 1 North sectionals.
But as if things couldn't get any better for Medford, the Mustangs were recently awarded a whole slew of honors, including Coach of the Year for Dave McCarthy, MVP for Brittani Lanzilli and GBL All-Stars for Kristina Bove, Jennifer White, Samantha Lopilato, Denise Palmacci and Kassi Abbott.
Lanzilli has been a scoring monster for Medford since joining the team as a seventh-grader and capped off the regular season with 41 goals and 23 assists to lead the Mustangs. Only a freshman, Lanzilli has racked up an astounding 90 goals for her career and 139 points total.

The Mustangs will look to keep the good times rolling on Friday when they hit the road to take on eighth-seeded Hingham (16-4-2) in the first round of the Div. 1 North sectional.
While Medford has proven it can score with the best of them, (the Mustangs have tallied 94 of them this season) it won't come easy against Hingham, a team that has allowed just 27 goals this season.
