Medford City Council Approves $24M Loan For New Police HQ

Construction of the new police station is expected to be completed in late 2020.

MEDFORD, MA – The Medford City Council on Wednesday approved a $24 million loan order to support construction of a new police headquarters. The vote was unanimous, according to city officials.

The loan order will fund the $22 million for the new police station and $2 million for a new two-way radio and dispatch system. Approval allows the architects and project managers to move forward with construction.

Completion of the new station is expected to be completed in October 2020, according to the mayor's office. The 35,000-square-foot space will house the police department's administration, records, patrol, training, detectives, detention, community services and 911 communications.
