Medford To Conduct Mosquito Spraying In Response To EEE
Here's where spraying will be done in the coming days.
MEDFORD, MA — Medford has scheduled mosquito spraying at several parks and the high school athletic field in response to higher EEE presence in mosquitoes this year. Spraying will be conducted at Victory Park, Tufts Park and Carr Park within the week and at the high school field after appropriate notice, the city said. Spraying will be done by the East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project.
"The spraying will take place after between sunset and sunrise on the perimeter of the areas, not the actual fields," according to a statement from the city. "Spraying will be targeting large vegetation surrounding the properties. No product will be applied to grass on the fields. With that, fields can be used with no interruptions."
The spray leaves a residual that can kill mosquitoes for days as they land to rest. Once it dries it is no longer harmful to bees, according to the city.
