Medford Man Caught Trying To Steal Bike At T Stop: Transit Police

The 28-year-old ran from police after an officer caught him trying to cut a bike out of the rack, according to TPD.

MEDFORD, MA – A Medford man was arrested Monday after a transit police officer caught him trying to steal a bike at the Oak Grove station, according to the Transit Police Department. Norbert Berthiaume, 28, fled police after an officer saw him trying to remove a locked bicycle with a sheet metal shear, police said.

"The officer gave chase and with the assistance of a good Samaritan was able to apprehend and place Berthiaume into custody," TPD said in a statement.

Berthiaume also had warrants for his arrest on charges of OUI drugs, possession of Class A dugs and possession of Class B drugs in East Brookfield District Court and a warrant on a charge of possession of Class B drugs in Boston Municipal Court, according to police.
