CAMBRIDGE, MA – A Medford man was arrested on a drug charge after police searched his car during a traffic stop in Cambridge Monday, police said. Nathan Brito, 24, was pulled over after allegedly making an illegal left turn onto Western Avenue from Massachusetts Avenue.

The responding officer allegedly smelled a "strong odor" or marijuana coming from Brito and his passenger. Brito was unable to present a license or paperwork associated with the rental car he was driving, according to police.

Brito and his passenger were asked to get out and officers searched the car. They allegedly found four plastic bags containing an estimated four ounces of marijuana in the glove compartment, and Brito told officers there was a knife in his backpack. Police seized the marijuana and folding knife, which had a handle shaped like a gun.
