Medford Man Leads Police On I-93 Chase From Boston To Randolph: TPD

A man with several warrants out for his arrest was allegedly caught in an apparent drug transaction, lead police on a pursuit.

RANDOLPH, MA — A Medford man with several warrants out for his arrest was caught in an apparent drug transaction led police on a chase down I-93 from Boston to Randolph late Tuesday morning, police said.

Gino Mitchell, 53, was allegedly driving a Chevy Silverado down Boylston Street when he pulled over and engaged in what appeared to be a drug deal with an unknown male. A Transit Police officer who observed the alleged deal checked the vehicle and found it to be stolen.

When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle near Washington Street and Essex Street, Mitchell allegedly refused to stop, instead driving onto 93 South. The officer pursued with his lights and sirens activated.

State Police joined the chase and engaged in an unsuccessful attempt at spike strips around Exit 11B. Police tried again near the Braintree Split, this time shredding the vehicle's tires.

Mitchell exited his vehicle and surrendered. While he was being booked it was discovered he had warrants out for his arrest from Lawrence District Court for failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation, and refusing to identify himself.
