Medford Police Warn Against Firearm License Text Scam
The department has received reports of a misleading text being sent to community members in an attempt to acquire private information.
MEDFORD, MA — The police department revealed Monday that it has received multiple reports from residents about text messages that their License To Carry is expiring.
The department emphasized that the messages are inauthentic and a scam, as the state does not send messages about the incense via text message.
The text reportedly comes with a link encouraging recipients to click on it, however the department strongly advised against doing so. The department recommends deleting the message and using the option commonly found on iPhones to report the message as “junk.”
