fundraiser, Krystle Campbell, medford strong, motorcycle run
Hundreds of bikers gathered yesterday for the 4th Annual Medford Strong Motorcycle Run to raise funds for the Krystle Campbell Scholarship Fund. Krystle Campbell was one of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.
The ride, which is organized yearly by Boston comedian Johnny Joyce, was kicked off at the VFW post 1012 on Mystic Avenue. On hand to help kickoff the event were Medford Mayor Stephanie M. Burke, and State Representative Paul J. Donato. The Medford fire department raised the Star Spangled Banner atop one of their ladders for the National Anthem ceremony. Many Medford high school students earned their volunteer hours, under the supervision of an former teacher of Krystle Campbell, by checking riders into the event and videotaping the kickstand up.

The ride took participants along the picturesque Massachusetts Coast – from Revere to Gloucester. At the scenic Stage Fort Park in Gloucester, bikers were able to take a break before returning to Medford for an afternoon of festivities. Ensuring their safety was a motorized police escort consisting of members from the Suffolk and Middlesex County Sheriff departments, as well as officers from the Andover and Winchester Police departments.
Attached are some photographs I was able to capture as a volunteer photographer for the event. More photos will be posted on the event’s Facebook page.
