New Medford GLX Work Expected To Last Up To 4 Weeks

Work began Monday on tree removal along the Medford right of way. Here are which areas will be impacted.

MEDFORD, MA – Tree and stump clearing and trash removal along parts of the Lowell Line right-of-way began Monday as part of the latest Green Line Extension work. The west and south side of the ROW from Winthrop Street in Medford to Lowell Street in Somerville will be impacted.

Work is expected to last 2-4 weeks. According to MassDOT, it is necessary to expand the usable space in the right-of-way to create a work zone for construction and train operations.

Clearing will start north of the College Avenue Bridge and progress down to Lechmere Station. Trees not removed during this phase will be cleared at a later date.
