Overnight GLX Work In Medford Could Get Noisy

Work began last night and will continue through this Friday, April 6.

MEDFORD, MA – Did you hear an alarm go off (that wasn't yours) last night in Medford? Overnight pre-construction work on the Green Line Extension project began the evening of Tuesday, April 3 and will continue through Friday, April 6.

According to MassDOT, the work involves a leveling device which rides slowly along the rails while making adjustments to the track grade and alignment. The trucks supporting the leveling process may occasionally trigger audible back-up alarms, MassDOT said.

Construction will take place between 11:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. from the College Avenue Bridge to the Harvard Street Bridge along the Lowell Commuter Rail right of way in Medford.
