Medford Police Make Leadership Changes Ahead Of Chief's Retirement (patch.com) — Medford residents will see a shift in police leadership as longtime Captain Paul Covino steps in as temporary deputy chief while Chief Jack Buckley prepares to retire on Dec. 19. City officials say the restructuring is meant to smooth the transition to a new chief, with promotions and an interview panel planned as the search for Buckley's permanent successor continues this fall.

The S'more Bot is back at Tufts Community Day, along with free lunch, a pet photo booth and Quiet Garden - Cambridge (csindie.com) — Tufts Community Day is inviting Medford and Somerville neighbors to a free, family-friendly celebration on Oct. 4 at The Green on Tufts' Medford campus. Expect free lunch while supplies last, S'more Bot treats, kids' activities, a pet photo booth, performances, and even a new Quiet Garden space for anyone needing a sensory break.
   

3. Fireside Chat with Amber Madison, Founder, Merritt AI (tufts.edu) — An upcoming fireside chat at Tufts' Derby Entrepreneurship Center on College Avenue in Medford will feature Amber Madison, founder and CEO of Merritt, discussing startups, AI, and performance management. Scheduled for October 8, the event invites local students, founders, and professionals to learn how she turned years of HR consulting into an AI-native company and to ask questions about leadership and workplace technology.
   

4. Balanced Offense Helps Volleyball Push Past WPI Thursday, 3-0 (gotuftsjumbos.com) — Tufts volleyball just swept WPI in three sets at Cousens Gym in Medford, with five Jumbos recording at least seven kills. The team's efficient first-swing hitting powered the win, and they now head to Bates for a key NESCAC matchup Friday evening.
