Melrose U-15 Boys Finish 2nd in Inaugural N.H. Lacrosse Tournament

On Saturday, June 25th, the Melrose U-15 boys select team traveled up to Henniker, NH to participate in the inaugural Laurie Cox Classic.

As a late entrant into the field, the organizers weren't fully aware of what Melrose was going to bring in terms of competition. (Big Mistake)

Also, Melrose did not travel with its full compliment of players and with the rigorous schedule, durability would be their biggest obstacle. Especially on a very warm late June afternoon.

Melrose plowed through their first five games and went undefeated against teams that included Henniker, NH, Mount Washington Valley & Haverhill.

In the last game of the preliminary round Melrose faced a very good and very deep Framingham team and lost a tough and well played game, 4-3.

Advancing to the semi-final round, Melrose was pitted against the top seeded, powerhouse team from Keene, NH.
Melrose jumped on them early and often and never looked back in a 8-3 victory.

The Championship game was a re-match against Framingham and while the boys hung tough, Framingham broke a 3-3 second half tie to outlast an exausted but very tenacious Melrose team to win, 5-3.

It was a fabulous effort by the boys considering they only had 13 players of which half of them played every minute of every game.

An amazing job performed by all of those boys who participated.
