Milford Nonprofit, Hotel Team Up To Support Deployed Troops

Thanks To Yanks is collecting personal care items, snacks and other donations for care packages bound for service members overseas.

MILFORD, MA — A Milford nonprofit has teamed up with a local hotel to collect items for service members currently deployed overseas.

Thanks To Yanks, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting military members, veterans, and their families, is partnering with Milford's DoubleTree by Hilton at 11 Beaver St. throughout June to gather donations for care packages.

Both the hotel and Thanks To Yanks have a long history of giving back to the community, according to the organization's Founder and President, Michael Shain. A collection table has been set up in the hotel's front lobby where residents can drop off donations.

The collection drive is one of several events that Thanks To Yanks hosts throughout the year to assist those serving in the military. Shain highlighted the organization's long history of supporting those in uniform, both past and present.

"Thanks To Yanks is thrilled to partner with the hotel in support of those who defend our freedom," Shain said in an announcement Saturday.

Earlier this month, Thanks To Yanks teamed up with Blackstone Valley Cannabis, a medical and recreational dispensary in Uxbridge, for a collection drive benefiting veterans and military families.

Earlier this year, the nonprofit sent Girl Scout cookies to troops serving overseas and partnered with a local bank to host a free magic show for the children and grandchildren of active-duty service members.

Last fall, Thanks To Yanks also collected items for homeless veterans and veterans in need as part of the Imperial Hope for Heroes Campaign.

For more information about the organization or to support its efforts, residents are encouraged to connect with Thanks To Yanks at the group's Facebook page.
