Milford PD To Receive 9-1-1 Cellphone Calls Directly
Cellphone calls will be patched directly into the Milford Police station instead of going through state police.

MILFORD, MA- Starting Thursday, all 9-1-1 calls made from cellphones in Milford will be answered by a dispatcher right in the Milford Police Headquarters.
Chief O'Loughlin announced Tuesday that the department completed the process to have all emergency cellphone calls routed directly to the town dispatch center instead of having state police act as a middle man and transfer the call.
"In an emergency, every second counts, so having 9-1-1 emergency calls come directly to the Milford Police will save time and allow Milford dispatchers to obtain the information necessary for an appropriate response by public safety personnel," said Chief Thomas O'Loughlin.

The department has additional means of making 9-1-1 calls as efficient as possible to help whoever is on the other line. Chief O'Loughlin encourages residents to sign up for the Smart 911 program. Users set up a profile on the site and it provides dispatchers and police with information based on your profile when you call. The information is kept confidential.
