Milford Woman Charged With OUI After Hitting Parked Police Car

The woman told officers that the parked cruisers "came out of nowhere."

MILFORD, MA- A Milford woman was charged with Operating a vehicle Under the Influence among other things after crashing into a parked police cruiser Thursday night.

Police were at Goodrich Court and North Bow Street investigating reported suspicious activity at 10:30 Thursday night when a white sedan driven by Ellen Roy, 63, came speeding toward the parked cruiser, according to the police report.

According to the police report, it looked like Roy was going to crash head-on into the cruiser, "The vehicle came to a complete stop less than a foot from the front end of cruiser #205," read the police report. Roy then tried to drive around the cruiser when the officer on scene moved his car in front of the sedan to block her from driving off, according to the report. That was when Roy continued moving forward, bumping the front end of the cruiser.

Roy told police the cruisers "came out of nowhere" and admitted to having drinks with her boyfriend earlier that night. Both cruisers were parked well off the side of the road with adequate room for passing cars, according to the report.

The officer on scene noted that Roy was stumbling and had bloodshot eyes and failed several parts of the field sobriety tests. She blew a .24 on the Breathalyzer, over the legal limit of .08.

Roy was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle and cited for speeding.
