2020 Seal of Biliteracy Recipients

143 graduating seniors from Newton North and Newton South High Schools have been awarded the Seal of Bliteracy.

The Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy and Seal of Biliteracy with Distinction are awarded to graduating seniors who demonstrate high levels of proficiency in English and another language. The Newton Public Schools are proud to honor the achievement of these dedicated students who have devoted significant time and effort to the ideal of becoming linguistically sophisticated global citizens. Their success in attaining a Seal of Biliteracy reflects the value we place on preparing our students for the challenges of the 21st century, and the great respect that we have for our community’s diverse linguistic and cultural heritage.

This year, NNHS awarded 88 Seals, in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Luganda, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. 18 of the Seals are with Distinction. NSHS awarded 55 Seals in the following languages: Albanian, Arabic, Armenian, Cantonese, Dutch, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Latin, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. Six of the Seals are with Distinction.

Below please find the award recipients and their chosen language from both North and South.
