Former Rep. Joe Kennedy Endorses Ruthanne Fuller For Reelection
Kennedy applauded Fuller's leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and expressed confidence that she will continue to build a better city.

NEWTON, MA â Former Representative Joe Kennedy III has endorsed Mayor Ruthanne Fuller in her campaign for reelection as Mayor of Newton.
Kennedy, who represented his home city of Newton and the Fourth Congressional District from 2013 to 2021, applauded Fuller's ability to lead the city through the pandemic and said he is confident she will continue to make Newton a better place.
âMayor Fuller has given every ounce of herself to the people of Newton," said Kennedy in a statement. "Through determination and diligence, she has led our city through one of the most challenging times in recent history. As a proud constituent, Iâm excited to see how she will bring a more prosperous, equitable and inclusive Newton in the years ahead."

The endorsement from Kennedy come after Newton City Council leadership come after Fuller's endorsement from EMILY's List, a national organization dedicated to promoting women candidates for office, National Champion for Women's Equality Barbara Lee, a group of local environmental leaders, former Mayor of Newton and State Representative from the 11th Middlesex District David Cohen, Newton City Council President Susan Albright and Vice President Rick Lipof, Rep. Kay Khan, Congressman Jake Auchincloss.
Last week, Fuller was also endorsed by the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, the first union to endorse a candidate in this year's mayoral election, and Engine 6, a voluntary association of Newton residents who advocate for fair, affordable, abundant, and diverse housing.
