Thank You, Newton Patch Readers

You and your curiosity and your tips and your posts make the Newton Patch what it is.

Thank you, Newton Patch readers, for taking time in your busy days to spend a few moments with Patch. We appreciate your visits and contributions, your tips and your additions to the calendar, and we want you to know we take nothing for granted.

In August, Newton Patch recorded 33,468 visitors — and we're growing. For a city of 89,000 people, that's not bad. Our visitors hail from Newton, for sure, but many residents of neighboring towns also land on the Newton Patch from time to time, too. That figure — compiled and verified through Google Analytics — includes readers on desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile and our app, and our visitors often access Patch on several devices over the month.

Here are 10 of the most-read articles on the Newton Patch in August.

Got a news tip? I'm Jenna Fisher, your local reporter and editor (not the actress who happens to have the same name as mine). You may have seen me running around the city — literally, as I regularly run out on Comm Ave and out to Crystal Lake for my morning run. While I didn't grow up here, I've lived in Cleveland Circle for the past decade (gasp). My dad has regaled me with stories about friends he made here in the '60s when he was applying to be a part of the Peace Corps and they dropped people off in towns they weren't from with nothing but a toothbrush during training stateside. And I've been covering news in the city —from marathon spectating to city council dynamics to marijuana and tacks in the bike lane, protests at Town Hall to development (so much development) on and off for the past four years. I know Newton residents care about their community and what happens here and all the change. So if you see a new sign over a formerly vacant business, or know of something happening that needs some light shed on it drop me a line at Jenna.Fisher@Patch.com or tweet me on Twitter @ReporterJenna and I'll see what I can find out.

Our readers also love Newton Patch's calendar of events — more than 2,539 visits were made to our calendar in August. Coming up soon on the calendar are open mic nights and the Newton Community Farm's Fall Festival (how did it get to be fall already!?) don't miss out on the story events that pop up monthly on the calendar, too.

Newton has a lot to offer, we don't need to tell you. The calendar is a handy spot to see what's next.

We also have some awesome contributors who take time to post everything from found credit cards to missing animals to high schoolers winning cars.

If you would like to post on Newton Patch, too, it's easy to sign up for a free user profile. As a Patch user, you can post articles, events, jobs, and announcements. And the "rules of Patch" are easy to follow: "No abusive content, no commercial spam, keep it local, and be awesome."

Here's another fun fact about Patch: Did you know that Patch is among the 100 most-trafficked websites in the United States? Patch ranks 91st on the most viewed websites in the country, according to Alexa. Brookline Patch is part of a broad network, with more than six dozen Patches in Massachusetts and more than 1,200 across the United States with local reporters on the ground. That's a lot of local news.

Many news websites are limiting access to free articles, but Patch articles and events by our journalists and our users are always free to view.

We're thrilled you've made the Newton Patch a part of your life. Thank you so much for your support and readership.
