Quincy Police Holding Children's Hospital Mighty Quinn Toy Drive

QUINCY, MA -- Quincy police are holding the First Annual Mighty Quinn Toy Drive in December to collect items for delivery to the 9th Floor of Children's Hospital where Quincy 3-year-old resident Quinn Waters recovered from medullo blastoma. Quincy Officer Tara Waters, Quinn's mother, and her family plan to the deliver the toys to children on the floor on Dec. 22.

Items that will be collected through Dec. 13 include: board games, Xbox games, blankets, kinetic sand, Starbucks and Amazon gift cards, slime kits, Legos, other toys for all ages and gift cards for area coffee shops and restaurants. All items must be new for health purposes.\

The Waters family has turned its attention to helping others after the outpouring of support for Quinn as he recovered from a brain tumor. The Dropkick Murphys performed a show at the Waters' Quincy residence when he was housebound with chemotherapy treatments in August, more than 50 officers from across the state presented Quinn with a "Mighty Quinn Way" sign and custom motorcycle in September and the Waters family was a guest of the New York Police Department at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Quinn Waters was also recently named the honorary grand marshal of Weymouth Irish Heritage Day to be held on March 29.
