Medication Take Back Event Set In Shrewsbury This Month

Residents can drop off medications with no questions asked, and no appointment is required.

SHREWSBURY, MA β€” Residents in Shrewsbury will have a chance to safely dispose of unused and expired medications later this month during a local take-back event.

The Shrewsbury Police Department is hosting a Medication Take Back Day on Apr. 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., providing community members a safe, anonymous way to dispose of unwanted prescription drugs.

The event at the Shrewsbury Police Station, at 106 Maple Ave. is part of a nationwide initiative aimed at preventing drug misuse and keeping medications out of the wrong hands, while also protecting the environment from improper disposal.

Residents can drop off medications with no questions asked, and no appointment is required.

Officials say items like pills, capsules and other solid medications are typically accepted. Liquids, needles and sharps are often not permitted, and residents are encouraged to check guidelines ahead of time.

The initiative is coordinated with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, which organizes National Prescription Drug Take Back Day events across the country each year.
