New Leader Takes Helm At Worcester County Food Bank

WCFB provides access to food for individuals and families facing food insecurity throughout the county.

SHREWSBURY, MA — A new leader is taking the helm at the Worcester County Food Bank.

Seana Weaver has been appointed as the organization's new Chief Executive Officer, the Worcester County Food Bank announced on Thursday. She previously served as the food bank's agency relations manager from 2018 to 2022.

The Worcester County Food Bank, at 474 Boston Tpke in Shrewsbury, works with a network of local food pantries, meal programs, and partners to provide access to food for individuals and families facing food insecurity throughout the county.

Weaver brings more than 20 years of nonprofit leadership experience, during which she has addressed hunger, poverty, and food access across the state and the country.

During her previous role at the food bank, she helped to strengthen partnerships with more than 120 local food pantries, launch SNAP outreach initiatives, expand food access during the pandemic, and help distribute millions of meals each year throughout the county, WCFB said in a news release.

“We are thrilled to welcome Seana back to Worcester County Food Bank in this new role,” said Laurie Rains, Chair of the food bank's Board of Directors. “Her collaborative leadership style, deep understanding of our community, and proven track record of organizational growth make her the right leader at a critical moment for our mission.”

Before returning to WCFB, Weaver served as the Executive Director of Fresh Truck in Boston. She has also held leadership roles at the Food Bank for New York City, YouthCare Seattle, and several other community-based organizations.

“I am honored to step into the role of CEO at Worcester County Food Bank,” said Weaver. “This organization has long been a cornerstone of hunger relief and community collaboration in Central Massachusetts. I look forward to working alongside our staff, partner agencies, board, volunteers, and supporters to deepen our impact and continue building a resilient, community-driven food system.”

Weaver will focus on strengthening the organization's partner agency network, the food bank said. She will also help to advance sustainable food access, expand community engagemrtn and help the organization with long-term growth in the face of food insecurity
