Fights, Shoplifting, And Theft: Somerville Crime Log
The following events were reported to Somerville police recently.
SOMERVILLE, MA — The following reports were received by Somerville Police between Wednesday, Feb. 18 and Tuesday, Feb. 24.
Wednesday, Feb. 18
11:03 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering at a church on Highland Avenue. One person told officers upon arrival that he observed a left door open as well as damage to two other doors and one window. Nothing was reported missing or stolen.

12:26 p.m. — Police responded to a report of shoplifting at a business on Broadway. Officers spoke with a person who said they witnessed a man stealing from the store. When he attempted to stop the assailant, the accused shoplifter punched him in the face and fled the area. According to police, the victim suffered injuries to his nose and eye.

5:15 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a fight at a gas station on Alewife Brook Parkway. One person told officers that he was shoveling snow when a vehicle pulled in. After asking the driver to move the vehicle, an argument ensued. According to the reporting party, he was then physically assaulted by the driver and another man.
Other crimes that were logged by police throughout that week include four motor vehicle break-ins, two vehicles vandalized, one motor vehicle theft, two bike thefts, and one package theft.
