Somerville Police Make Multiple Drug And Firearm Busts
The department worked with other local, state, and federal agencies to conduct the operations.
SOMERVILLE, MA — The police department announced that it has seized a dangerous weapon Wednesday in an operation that saw it partner with the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The two entities worked to recover a military-grade AK-47 assault rifle that had been reportedly hidden in the common area of a residential building in the city. The department added that two fully-loaded magazines were also recovered.
“This seizure is related to an ongoing federal drug conspiracy,’ New England DEA said in a statement.

Last week, Somerville police and the DEA also recovered more than tens of thousands of counterfeit pills that contained fentanyl and methamphetamine, 30 pounds of crystal meth, and multiple handguns. According to the DEA, the Lowell, Tewksbury, and Methuen Police Departments as well as the Massachusetts State Police and Salem and Nashua Police Departments from New Hampshire.
This first bust took place in East Somerville in the vicinity of Broadway.
