Manko: Togetherness

Paintings by Audrey Diallo

September 4 – October 30, 2015
Reception: September 17 from 6-8 PM

Music and history are deeply intertwined in West Africa… and visual art is a part of the process. Every moment of the day includes a tribute to the songs and dances of the ancestors. The word Manko in Wolof roughly translates to “Togetherness” or “Community”, a concept that is all pervasive in daily life. Diallo’s paintings aspire to build visual bridges for the viewer who is invited to hear the sounds, imagine the faces, and feel the connections we all share.
