Police Release More Details About Somerville Pedestrian Crash

SOMERVILLE, MA — Police continue to investigate a crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Somerville Thursday. The woman was crossing Somerville Avenue in a crosswalk when she was hit by a garbage truck making a right turn from Medford Street, State Police said.

The collision happened around 1:45 p.m. The victim, a 34-year-old Somerville resident, was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. The driver of the truck, a 50-year-old Hyde Park man, remained at the scene and was uninjured.

Somerville-based Russell Disposal, Inc. owns the 2018 Mack 800 tri-axle truck, according to police.
