Somerville Hit-And-Run: Man Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries

A man was critically injured in the second hit-and-run in as many months on Mystic Avenue.

SOMERVILLE, MA — A man suffered life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Somerville Sunday morning, according to reports. The 69-year-old Cambridge resident was hit around 3 a.m. while walking near the intersection of Mystic Avenue and Shore Drive.

The man was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital and is expected to survive, the Boston Globe reported. Police have not yet identified the vehicle involved in the crash.

This is the second hit-and-run in as many months on Mystic Avenue. In July, 52-year-old Cheryl Pauline Richards was fatally struck near the Stop & Shop. Zewdu Abate Gedamu, 64, of Roxbury, turned himself in to police and has been charged in the crash.
