Somerville Hotline To Report ICE Raids Launches This Month

The text message service will provide immediate notice of federal immigration raids in Somerville.

SOMERVILLE, MA – A text message service to warn residents of federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids will soon be available in Somerville. The Somerville Response Network, developed by The Welcome Project, is currently in the testing phase and will allow residents to report and receive alerts about ICE action in the city.

The aim of the Somerville Response Network is to prevent the separation of families, officials with The Welcome Project told Wicked Local. The organization also asks those who are not at risk of being deported to provide support by either going to the scene of a raid or provide resources afterward.

Raids may be reported to (617) 863-7783. Residents who report a raid are asked to provide as many details as possible so the response committee may quickly verify its authenticity. To receive alerts about raids, text JOIN to (617) 941-3812.
