Anti-Spectra Pipeline March to Come Through Stoughton Friday
Protestors are expected in Stoughton.

Stoughton, MA — About 200 protestors are expected in Stoughton Friday for a march against a proposed gas pipeline from Spectra Energy.
Bri McAlevey of No Stoughton Gas Pipeline told the Board of Selectmen Tuesday that the walk is part of a larger organized protest that is taking place across the region.
Once the march hits Stoughton at the Sharon line, protestors will go up Route 27, left on Simpson Street, right on Central Street, left on Commercial Street, left on Station Street, right on Cross Street before it turns into Rebecca Road, right on Wafford Park Drive, and left on Pleasant Street towards Canton.

Selectmen Chairman David Sousa said Police Chief Donna McNamara is aware of the march and will make sure that people are safe.
Overall the selectmen were receptive to the planned protest, which is against a proposed 30-inch high-pressure fracked gas line that would go through Stoughton.

"If (Spectra) want to put it up and pay for it that’s one thing but to make people pay for it and go back in and charge them for it, I’m not too happy about that," Sousa said.
Marchers are expected to take multiple routes and travel through other towns including Medfield, Walpole, Sharon, Canton, Norwood, Dedham, Weymouth and the neighborhoods of Boston. At the state house, the group plans to demand action from elected officials against the pipeline.
